OVERVIEW

Capcom Vancouver continues to develop new and exciting projects, and we’re growing in the process! With three unique projects in development, we’re recruiting smart, passionate and dedicated professionals to work with us on the next generation of video gaming.

 

As a Concept Artist, you will share a passion to create visually stunning Action or Fantasy concept while working alongside a talented creative group of Concept, Character and Environment Artists. A major collaborator in the creation of the visual style of our environments and characters, you’re involved from concept to fully realized assets.

 

This role is a *10 Month Contract*

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with Art & Design departments in honing a collective art vision.
  • Provide color keys, mood paintings and style sheets from rough to fully realized paintings.
  • Visual problem solving.
  • Give appropriate feedback to improve the creative process in a collaborative environment.
  • Consistently meet project deadlines and milestones set by project leads.
  • Produce a wide range of highly creative character, creature and environment concept art to fulfill the requirements of the game while working within the constraints of engine, game design, and schedule. 
  • Proactively seek feedback from the Art Director in style and mood.
  • Communicate proactively with co-workers, including designers, programmers, and other game artists. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Skill in ideation & iteration rendering.
  • Strong basic drawing and painting skills that exhibit a solid understanding of human anatomy, industrial and architectural design coupled with strong traditional art fundamentals. 
  • Demonstrate a broad range of abilities including: characters, vehicles, weapons, props and environments with a high proficiency in at least three areas.
  • Able to work collaboratively, seeking feedback from peers and leads and to maintain consistent style under the direction of the Art Director.
  • A sound familiarity with AAA modeling & techniques (both traditional and high to low modeling).
  • Advanced working and technical knowledge of Maya.
  • Ability to digitally sculpt/model & texture both High & Low polygon characters to a high level of quality.
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D photo manipulation and painting software (i.e. Photoshop).
  • Excellent knowledge & understanding of human anatomy, with an eye for accurate proportions, form, and details.
  • A proven track record as a hands on leader which means you are a diplomatic and inspirational communicator who is open to feedback and constructive evaluation; possess seasoned listening skills; are a team player with a positive attitude and influence on others who has the drive and high motivation to be the best.
